Tuesday 27:

Monday 26 October:
Nothing. I threw away a goodly number of letters which I won’t be able to take along if I am really to leave.

Wednesday 28:
Nothing.

Thursday 29:
At 6:30 this evening Mrs. Cavailhon got a phone call to send me in the morning to Toulouse with the other boy for the hearing. At last, tomorrow we will be told whether I leave on the 1st or 2nd ship. If only I could have you near me.

Friday 30:
On our arrival in Toulouse, we went to the Quakers’ office across from the railroad station. We were admitted right away. A man, an American, questioned me about you, grand- mother, etc.. then I was given a number and I was taken
