I got a letter from Charles. He is very kind and takes care of me.
Thursday 24:
I cried a lot thinking of you. Miss Mariette of the S.S. [= Secours Suisse = Swiss aid organization] came to see me. She will send to me all my personal belongings. Mrs. Cavailhon told me in her presence that it was only a matter of a few weeks and that I will be leaving for America on the first ship (in October). I would have wanted to take you along. But once over there, I’ll be safe and I’ll be able to bring you over.
Friday: 25:
A convoy left this morning for Aix with Mrs. Cavailhon. She will be returning with children in my situation. The 2 grown-ups (Georges and Roger), whom my dear mom knows, left with the convoy. They were the ones who met me at the bus when I came here.
